“Drum-face” is the expression a person makes while drumming. It’s somewhere between ‘contemplation’ and ‘joy’, the face of a person blissfully present in an activity. That is precisely where we want to be; it’s where we are when we are making.
The Maya may (or may not) be onto something. Either way, fun times are only steps away at DrumFace! DrumFace’s “Thirteen Things to Do Before 2013”
#1: Learn something new. Drumming workshop with Rami! November 28th, 7-8:30pm. (RSVP via FaceBook or by calling DrumFace) $15; individual bookings also available.
#2: Eat out. Veggie Potluck & Aissawa Kbir, Thursday Nov. 29th, 7:30-10pm. Bring a dish to share! We’re hoping to get the screenprinting supplies out so maybe bring something if you want to have it printed.
#3, 4, & 5: Make something! Clay Play 6:30-8:30pm, Tuesdays Dec. 4, 11 & 18th. Reservation required, $20 per session, tools & basic materials supplied.
#6: Play drums. Darbooka Hour, Wednesday Dec. 5th, 7-8pm. Practice session for Middle-Eastern drummers. All levels, Free (donations accepted)
#7: Go shopping. DrumFace Annual Studio Sale & Hot Drinks Party, Sunday Dec. 9th 2-6pm. Get ’em while they’re hot!
#8: Explore. Chicago Cavers, Wednesday Dec. 19th, 7:30-10pm. For the cave-curious residents of Chicagoland, just a hangout and social night. Meet other cavers, learn new skills. Repeats every-other month on the third Wednesday.
#9: Celebrate! Quentin’s birthday is aligned with the Mayan Apocalypse, December 21, 2012 (ok, really just the ‘flipping over’ of the 5,000 year long-count calendar but still…!)
#10: Share. Last Thursday of 2012! Open House, Aissawa Kbir & Veggie Potluck, Dec. 27th
#11: Dance.
