Bang to Hush: Ishtar Envisions the World , written and performed by Terry Reimer 7pm, $10 suggested donation Doors open 6:30, performance runs 1 hour and is accompanied by a photography display. Terry Reimer self-publishes of one of our favorite publications, “World Percussion & Rhythm” magazine.
Tues, June 19 & 26 Clay Play 6:30-8:30 ($20 per session, minimum 2; Ages 14+) 3-week clusters of good clay fun, every month- these are the last 2 for June. Experience recommended but not required; basic tools and materials supplied. Complete a 1- or 2-week project this month, and it will be ready for you to glaze next month. Sun. 24th Moroccan Drum & Dance 5pm $5 This workshop session is dedicated to rhythms and unique instruments of Moroccan folkloric music, including key movements of traditional dances. Instruments are provided; ages 14+. An active session- be prepared to boogie!
Weds. 27th DrumFace Kids Club: Drums! 2:30-3:30pm $7 per week/$45 series of 8 (minimum 4 weeks, pre-booking required) DrumFace Kids Club will run on most Wednesdays between June 27 and August 22, with a final party August 29th. 8-week Drum Club kicks off in late June, and 6 weeks of Art Club goes from mid-July. Thurs. 28th Aissawa Kbir Veggie Potluck 7-9:30pm FREE* Hosted by DrumFace and Chicago Aissawa. On Last Thursdays of every month, DrumFace studio is open for a night of community and music. Aside from delicious vegetarian potluck dinner and music by Chicago Aissawa, we are featuring “Aissawa kbir” (pronounced ka-beer), which means “Big Aissawa”. It’s a little bit of Morocco in Chicago, and we want you to play along! Bonus: check out our drop-in drummaking activity and make your very own. *donation welcome but not required
